1. Switch to single-user mode.
2. From the file menu select preferences.
3. Open the 1099 tax preferences.
4. Select Yes in the “Do you file 1099 MISC forms?” option.
5. If you don’t work with individuals who qualify as 1099 recipients, select No to turn off the 1099 feature in QuickBooks. The Account and Threshold columns are gray, indicating that you cannot modify them.
